Not a commonly known pest, Silverfish are wingless, silvery-blue insects with long antenna and a carrot shaped body. They have destructive feeding habits and in large numbers can cause damage to old books, photographs, wallpaper, plaster and may other household items which contain starch or cellulose.
Silverfish thrive in high humidity where they can be found in dark, damp areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, cellars and lofts. Signs that you may have a silverfish problem are yellow stains on clothing and small holes along the edges of paper, wallpaper and books. You might also find them burrowing in dried food packets.
