Ant Control St Albans

EPC Pest Control Services

We specialise in Ant Control in St Albans, with over 30 years of experience in the industry we can quickly identify the problem and recommend the best treatment to remove the infestation and deter ants from returning in the future.

A common pest, ants are seen more during the spring than any other season when hibernation is over and food becomes plentiful. Ants like to find places that are warm at night, have easy access to food and water and can find shelter from the hot sun and spring rain.

When ants enter the home they become a real nuisance. Attracted by sweet, high sugar foods, large numbers of ants can be found walking over your surfaces and be very unpleasant.

Ant Control St Albans

Our Treatment Programme

Our treatment programme consists of two visits. Our technician will initially talk through the problems you are experiencing and explain what our initial treatment entails. They will then carry out a thorough inspection of your premises prior to any treatment and assess the level and extent of the infestation.

Black garden ants are normally controlled using residual insecticides namely sprays and dusts. In domestic properties we would normally treat the kitchen and garden areas where the ants may have originally entered the premises.

On completion of the treatment our technician will leave a report with you with details of the treatments and recommendations to help prevent further infestations.

Facts About Ants

Ant Control St Albans

Worker and Queen ants are produced at certain times in the year. The male worker ants are the ones most likely to be seen and are about 2 - 5mm in length and a black/brown colour. The presumptive male and female ants are larger in size, about 3.5 - 4.7mm and 6.5 - 10mm respectively, these are predominantly black and emerge from the nest with wings during the summer.

Ant colonies centre upon a nest that arises after a mated queen establishes a small starter nest beneath the soil. The first brood of larvae then mature to form the first cohort of worker ants. A colony can grow rapidly with the queen continuing to lay eggs which are tended and fed by the worker ants.

Feeding on nectar, seeds and small insects, nests can survive for many years.

Problems caused by Ants

Ants become pests once they come into our homes searching for food. They are most commonly attracted to sweet, high sugar foods. When garden ants are foraging for food they can become a real nuisance, often walking over unpleasant and dirty surfaces while they are searching for food sources.

When ants have nested indoors, infestations may cause problems at any time of the year. Their nests are usually found in the insulation layer below a property.

Best pest control. Always there to re assure and utmost professionalism.

Used EPC for the first time when they came to deal with mice at 2am and since then I would not use anyone else. Clearly know what they are doing unlike many other companies in this field. Highly recommended.

We had a mouse issue which we were trying to deal with using shop brought products..

The mice just kept eating it, we still had mice for a while until we called EPC, they carried out a treatment and blocked off all areas, great service, no more mice, I would highly recommend to my family and friends

Wow is all I can say, we had Bed Bugs in our property for months, we had a couple of well known companies in to deal with the issue, which they could not do..

They used just chemicals, after talking to EPC about a heat treatment and the treatment involved we went to the extra expense of trying it, at last we can sleep Bed Bug free, it is a bit expensive, but well worth the money when you see what they do, thanks again guys.
