Bee Removal St Albans

EPC Pest Control Services

We specialise in Bee Removal in St Albans, with over 30 years of experience in the industry we can quickly identify the problem and recommend the best solution to remove the bees without harming them. In rare circumstances we may have to destroy the bees nest.

Bees can be very difficult to remove if you are not experienced. Never attempt to remove bees yourself, this should only be done by experienced pest controllers or bee keepers. If bees swarm there could be thousands in one area which can cause serious harm.

Are Bees Protected?

It is a common misconception that bees are a protected species, they are endangered but none of the 250 species in the UK are protected. With this in mind we will always explore rehoming a swarm of bees first but this is not always possible. If the nest is in an inaccessible area and the bees pose a risk to health we are able to destroy the nest.

Our Treatment Programme

Bees are active between May and August and can nest in places such as compost heaps or underneath garden decking. We will always try our upmost to rehome the bees by collecting the swarm and relocating it. Some species of bee will not rehome though and sometimes the position of the nest and the threat posed means destroying the nest is the only option.

If a nest has to be destroyed we will remove what remains of the hive to ensure no others pests can inhabit the nest.

If a nest is left where it is causing problems there could be further problems down the line as multiple hives scatter around and increase the number of bees. Although honey bees can die out quickly, bumble bees are around for the whole Summer with any newly mated Queens waiting until the following year to build new hives.

Facts About Bes

Bee Removal St Albans

There are over 250 species of bee in the UK which appear when the weather becomes warmer as they go in search of nectar.

The Queen Bee starts building the nest and will then lay eggs and start growing the numbers of bees. This is done through a process where pollen and wax is continually added, sealing these eggs in place, before the grubs emerge and develop a brand new army of worker bees.

Once the new bees have dried their wings, they will then work on supporting the colony and their queen. Over time, the amount of nectar collected increases and the workload is subsequently delegated to new bees as and when they are developed.

Problems caused by Bed Bugs

If bees are left alone they are harmless but if a swarm of bees thinks you are too close to their nest they could see you as a threat and start to sting. Nests that are near to where humans live and work then cause problems because the Bees are constantly feeling threatened.

The longer a nest is left the larger it will become and the more bees will swarm if threatened, swarms could contain thousands of bees.

We had a mouse issue which we were trying to deal with using shop brought products..

The mice just kept eating it, we still had mice for a while until we called EPC, they carried out a treatment and blocked off all areas, great service, no more mice, I would highly recommend to my family and friends

Jessie

Wow is all I can say, we had Bed Bugs in our property for months, we had a couple of well known companies in to deal with the issue, which they could not do..

They used just chemicals, after talking to EPC about a heat treatment and the treatment involved we went to the extra expense of trying it, at last we can sleep Bed Bug free, it is a bit expensive, but well worth the money when you see what they do, thanks again guys.
